CHIC AT EVERY AGE FEATURING WHAT TO WEAR ON THE 4TH + ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE

It’s that time again, our CHIC AT EVERY AGE series and we’re all incredibly excited to be featuring this uber chic summer top which is under $40 and would be so perfect to wear on the 4th of July!

Happy almost 4th of July!  What are your plans for the 4th?  We’re just going to watch the fireworks on the 3rd and go over to our neighbors’ house and hang out by the pool on the 4th.  Whether you’re going to a day time BBQ, a morning parade, a pool party, or to watch fireworks somewhere fun you can easily wear the under $40 top we’re featuring in today’s post!  If you’re going to wear it during the day I would recommend wearing it with chic denim shorts (these are my favorite) or a cute denim skirt since days in July especially in Dallas are super hot!!  In addition to this top, I’ve scoured the internet for some other chic to death summer tops which would be so perfect to wear on the 4th and beyond and they’re all under $100!

OUTFIT DETAILS:

The cute top we’re all wearing is by Something Navy and it’s available at Nordstrom.  I love that it can be worn on or off the shoulder and you can choose to tuck it in or leave it un-tucked proving it’s versatility!  I chose to wear mine off the shoulder for a sexier look and I love it tucked into my high-waisted denim because it makes a more slimming and taller silhouette.  I’m going to wear this fabulous top over to my neighbor’s house on the 4th with this denim skirt because I know it will be hot as heck that day!  If I were going to wear it at night on a date night or GNO I would opt to wear it with high-waisted jeans.  The best part, this chic top is ON SALE for under $40, quite a steal for such a fabulous summer top!  The white and red sold out, but it’s fully stocked in the black which I love too!  It runs true to size, I’m wearing an XS.

My slimming jeans are seriously my new favorites!  They’re by Agolde which is my all time favorite denim line as of late.  They’re super high waisted with an ankle length which is the perfect formula for making you look taller AND slimmer, always a plus!  These are made of rigid denim which means they’re 100% cotton and have no elastane (stretch) in them.  That being said, these aren’t as comfortable as your average pair of stretchy skinny jeans, however, they will stretch out a little bit and mold to your body so they’re actually fairly comfortable.  I wouldn’t choose to travel in these jeans, but I wear them all day with plenty of ease and comfort.  The reason rigid denim is so much more flattering in my opinion than stretchy jeans is that rigid denim does a much better job of holding everything in, lifting your butt up, and molding to your body.  I recommend sizing down one size because they run a tad bit big, I’m wearing a zie 24.

My nude and clear heels are by Schutz and these are one of the most comfortable heels I have in my closet!  They’re so good I had to get them in the black as well.  Translucent heels are such a huge trend this season and I’ll have to admit I’m a huge fan because clear heels actually elongate your legs since they just blend into to your skin.  I wear these heels a ton with jeans, skirts, and even shorts because they’re so comfortable and have such an amazing leg elongating effect!  If I were you I would grab these uber chic heels in both colors, trust me, they will take you many places in style AND comfort!

Finally, my new handbag is By Saint Laurent and it’s my latest splurge.  There are certain items I recommend investing in and handbags are one of them!  Find out the other 4 items I suggest investing in included in my latest blog post and YouTube titled:  5 INVESTMENT PIECES EVERY WOMAN SHOULD OWN.  I adore the neutral taupe shade of this bag because it literally matches everything and I’ll be able to carry it all year round meaning I will for sure get my cost per wear out of it.  The gunmetal strap and logo gives this YSL an edgy vibe which goes right along with my personal style!

Now, let’s talk about the upcoming NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE!  If you’re not familiar with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, it’s basically an epic SALE that Nordstrom has every July.  It’s not what you would think a typical sale would be which is marking down items from the current season, this SALE if actually new fall merchandise that is marked down for a limited time only!

HOW TO PREPARE:  I suggest making a list of all of the items you need to make your fall wardrobe more functional.  I would also set a budget in the beginning so you don’t end up overspending.  This is a great time to score investment items such as coats, jackets, shoes, and handbags since you can get them on MAJOR SALE!  I’m always on the lookout for amazing jackets, good denim, chic heels, and fall boots.  I’ll be posting tons of looks 3 days a week on my blog and 3 times a day in the Liketoknow.it app so be sure and subscribe to my blog and follow me @soheatherblog in the app!
