Empowering Women To Look & Feel Confident

Heather Anderson of So Heather is a Dallas-based lifestyle influencer who believes in empowering women to look and feel confident no matter their age. Heather is a seasoned style expert with a decade of experience helping women over 40 but really any age to look and feel like the best versions of themselves.

Heather started her personal styling company 10 years ago right after she lost her Dad to lung cancer. A year later in 2012, Heather started her blog as a way to reach more people than just her clients.

Just 2 years ago, in 2019 Heather launched a YouTube channel that has allowed her to share simple style tools to empower women to look and feel their best.

She hopes through the different looks and lifestyle tips she shares that she is able to inspire others to express themselves in a way that makes them feel good – on the inside and on the out.

She always tells her clients and readers to dress in what they feel most confident in.

Our confidence will forever be our most valuable accessory – wear what you love and what makes you feel your best, and watch your confidence shine through!

Being a Mom is my first priority, and she absolutely loves it! However, being a Mom and a woman who is in her 40’s doesn’t mean her style has to reflect what most people picture a “Mom over 40” looking or dressing like.

She believes there is a fine balance that needs to be attained when you are dressing – you never want to look like you’re trying too hard, and on the other hand, you certainly don’t want to look too old or dated either. There is a tasteful way to put looks together to achieve that effortless and chic style that all of us are looking for.

The good news, it’s possible to achieve and maintain amazing style at any age!

Let’s Сonnect

  • When did you start your fashion blog and why?

I created my fashion blog in January of 2012 as a way to reach a broader audience than just my personal styling clients. It’s my mission to inspire women to look and feel like the best versions of themselves, inside and out!

  • What do you love most about blogging?

I love helping women look and feel like the best versions of themselves!

  • Who is your photographer?

    Becca Patton of Beckleyphoto.com

  • How tall are you and what size do you wear?

    I’m 5’4. I wear a size 0-2 , XS, 25 in jeans, and 7 1/2 in shoes.

  • Who does your hair and how do you get the loose waves?

  • What advice do you have for someone wanting to start a fashion blog?

Just do it! Don’t wait for things to change or something else to happen, do it now! If it’s something you are really interested in and passionate about then I encourage you to get the ball rolling sooner than later. The first thing I would do is to come up with a creative name for your blog, find a web designer, create a calendar of looks you want to post, and hire a good photographer. The key is to post on a consistent basis. Pick a number of days you want to post every week and stick to that. Post on the same days of the week so that your readers will know when to expect your emails. With hard work and discipline you too can have a successful fashion blog!

  • What do you do to stay in such good shape?

I’m a firm believer that the size I am has everything do to with the foods I eat.  Period.  Yes, I also believe that exercise is crucial and very important, not only because it keeps me toned and firm, but it helps me mentally as well.  I think that what I eat is about 85% of the reason I’m the size I am, the other 15% is exercise.  I do Bikram hot yoga and am obsessed with it.  I do it religiously 4 times a week, the other 2 days a week I play tennis, and I take Sunday’s off.  Bikram is a 90 minute hot yoga class which takes place in a room that is 105 degrees, so I sweat a ton a feel like a million dollars when I step out of the class room, EVERY time.  It’s tough and challenging to say the least, but it keeps me toned and helps me mentally.

I basically live by the Paleo way of eating, I eat mostly fruits and vegetables, little or no red meat and I hardly ever drink alcohol.  Here is what I eat on a daily basis:  I drink a shake in the morning, every morning no matter what unless I’m traveling.  I’m a creature of habit I guess because this is what I eat for breakfast literally every morning.  You can get the recipe for my morning shake here.  I’m a big snacker throughout the day which keeps my metabolism going.  When I get home from yoga or tennis I’ll have some organic mixed nuts and a big glass of coconut water.  For lunch I usually have a juice from the GEM (made up of kale, spinach, lemon, ginger, apples, and cucumber) this one is called the GREEN GLOW along with a protein bar or a salad.  In the afternoon, I’ll snack on some more nuts, gogi berries, celery and almond butter,  dark chocolate covered almonds, or a piece of fruit.  For dinner I usually have a protein such as chicken or fish, and a vegetable and or another salad.  I don’t drink alcohol that often, maybe a glass or 2 of red wine every 2 weeks or so.  It’s just never really been my thing for some reason.  My only dietary vice would be my enormous sweet tooth which I inherited from my sweet Dad  (pun intended).  So, to satisfy my sweet tooth I eat a small dessert only once a day, usually after dinner.  It’s often a few cookies, or a small piece of pie or cake.  I also LOVE chocolate so I’ll eat a few pieces of dark chocolate too!

It’s different for everyone, and trust me I know it’s not easy, but this regimen works for me.  It’s all about finding that balance and what works for you and your body type.  I encourage all of you to look at exercise and healthy eating not as a diet, but as a way of life and not just because you’ll look better, but because you’ll feel better too!
