3 TIPS TO FOLLOW TO WHEN FINDING THE PERFECT BLAZER WITH NORDSTROM + STYLING THESE UNDER $100 SHORTS 2 WAYS

Good Morning ladies!  I’m thrilled to be teaming up with my favorite department store, Nordstrom,  to bring you 2 super chic looks so perfect for summer!

I believe in investing in certain wardrobe staples in order to build an optimal and functional wardrobe.  My go-to place when shopping for designer pieces that will not only make my wardrobe more functional but timeless as well is always Nordstrom.  They have the best selection of the latest and greatest designer staples which is why I always choose Nordstrom first.

The number one designer item I suggest investing in is the black blazer because it’s hands down the most versatile piece in any women’s closest and here’s why.  First, the black blazer can literally be worn anywhere dressy or casual.  I’ve worn my black blazer dressy to church with a black bodysuit and sleek black denim.  A black blazer can take you seamlessly from the office to dinner and drinks.  It can also take you to a casual sporting event or a laid back Sunday brunch worn over a simple white tee and paired with ripped jeans and some chic sneakers.  Second, the black blazer can be styled so many different ways such as wearing over a slimming midi dress, with leather pants and some killer heels, and even with a pair of shorts which is my favorite way to style a blazer as of late which happens to be a great way to wear a blazer in the summertime!

My exact black blazer is Balmain which is one of my favorite luxe brands that Nordstrom carries.  Until you’ve tried on a Balmain blazer you really don’t know how flattering a blazer really can and should be which is why I’m going to share 3 tips for finding the perfect blazer.

3 TIPS FOR FINDING THE PERFECT BLAZER:

1.) THE CUT:

  The cut of this blazer is very slimming because it actually cuts way in on the highest part of your waist which is why it will actually give you a waist even if you don’t have one.  Therefore, make sure the blazer you’re thinking about purchasing cuts in at the highest part of your waistline and always air on the more fitted side.  There’s nothing worse than buying a jacket that is too big because wearing clothes that don’t fit you properly will actually make you look bigger.

You also have to look at the way the shoulders fit you and feel on your body.  They should fit snug but never too tight and you should feel comfortable wearing the blazer otherwise, you won’t want to wear it very often which would make the cost per wear not worth it.

2.) THE SLEEVE LENGTH:

The length of the sleeves on a well fitting blazer should hit you mid-thumb when your arms are down at your sides. For a more casual vibe, try pushing your sleeves up a bit which is what I do most of the time.

3.) THE LENGTH OF THE BLAZER:

A blazer should hit you right around your hip bone, this will make you look taller and slimmer as opposed to an over-sized blazer which may hit you at a much lower point like mid-thigh.  This Balmain blazer hits right at the hip bone which is the most flattering length for most body types.

The shorts I’m wearing in both looks are by Topshop and I’m obsessed with them because they’re so flattering!  The paper bag waist is one of the most slimming waistlines you can wear because it hits at the highest part of your waistline which happens to be the slimmest part on most body types.  I adore the olive green shade however they come in black and pale pink too which I also love!   The length of these shorts is very flattering too, not too short or too long.  I know I’ll be living in these uber chic and slimming shorts all summer long and I’m sure if you get them you will be too!  The best part, these amazing shorts are only $60, quite a steal for such a fabulous pair of shorts!  They run true to size, I’m wearing a size 4 which is the same as a US size 0-2.

The UNDER $50 black tee I’m wearing in look 2 is so soft which means is extremely comfortable!  I love the oversized fit because you can wear it off or on the shoulder which makes this simple tee very versatile.  It comes in a charcoal gray too which I love.  It would look fabulous paired with shorts as I did in today’s but I also love it worn with jeans or a denim skirt.  It runs true to size, I’m wearing a size XS.

My studded sandals are by Marc Fisher and I will admit these are by far my favorite flat sandals I’ve ever owned!  The studs on these chic sandals add the perfect amount of edge making them anything but ordinary.  They’re sure to take you many places in style AND comfort this summer!  These cool-girl sandals come in 7 chic colors all so perfect for summer and the price point is amazing!

The bucket bag I’m carrying in look 2 is by Staud and these particular bags are trending hard right now.  To me, they’re the perfect summer bag guaranteed to take all of your summer looks up a few notches!

Finally, my Gucci sunglasses I’m wearing in both looks are a new favorite of mine.  I purchased them about a month ago from Nordstrom of course and I’ve worn them every day since!  I love the neutral gray lenses because they literally match everything!  The website says they’re green but I promise you they look more like a light gray in person.
