Summer is upon us and if I’m being honest it’s one of my favorite seasons, how about you?  I’m very cold natured so I love being in warmer climates and Dallas, Texas would definitely be considered one of nature’s warmer climates since we have plenty of over 100 degree days here!  Because of the extremely hot weather dressing can get tricky sometimes, you want to look chic yet you also want to feel comfortable. Well, that’s where this amazing summer wardrobe comes in.  I have spent hours building this functional and affordable summer capsule wardrobe to make putting outfits together so much easier for all of you this season.  I believe that any good wardrobe should be made up of mostly high-quality basics (roughly 80%) in order for it to be functional which is why I swear by capsule wardrobes.  As you may have noticed I publish a capsule wardrobe every season because I believe in their functionality that much! 1). A MIDI DRESS:

You all probably know by now that I am a huge fan of midi dresses. A midi dress is the most flattering and slimming style of dress for all ages since it hits below the knee. It’s a chic piece that’s perfect for date nights and GNOs without much effort!

OPTION 1:

This dress is the one I’m wearing in look one. It’s so affordable at under $50 and comes in 3 shades including black which I love thanks to its versatility. This dress is super comfy and also wrinkle-free so it’s perfect for traveling. It runs true to size, I’m  wearing an XS.

OPTION 2:

This tastefully sexy black dress by Vince is such a gorgeous dress for date night and GNO. I love that it ties at the waist making it even more flattering than it already is. It’s also very comfortable and wearable to have on for long amounts of time. This one runs true to size, I’m wearing an XS.

OPTION 3:

This dress is another one of my favorites from Bloomingdales! I wanted to include a white dress in this edit and I adore this one – it’s incredibly chic and slimming. You can easily wear it during the day with flat sandals and dress it up at night time with a sleek white blazer and some fabulous heels. It runs true to size, I’m wearing an XS.

2.) A WHITE BUTTON-DOWN:

I truly believe that every woman should own at least one white button-down in their summer wardrobe! I am obsessed with this one by Nili Lotan that’s oversized and fashion-forward. If you like the oversized look as well, I highly suggest sizing up one size in your button-downs. You just can’t go wrong with a chic white button-down to wear to any occasion. This budget-friendly one from Madewell is another one of my favorites and comes in 6 different colors. 3.) FREE PEOPLE WHITE BODYSUIT:

I have featured this white bodysuit by Free People so many times because I absolutely love it. I actually love it so much that I have it in the black color, too! It’s so comfortable and can be worn underneath any of your favorite jackets and blazers without coming untucked. It’s also super affordable! This piece runs true to size, I’m wearing an XS.

4.) AGOLDE DEE SHORTS:

I am obsessed with the Dee shorts by Agolde. I swear by these denim shorts because they are hands down the most slimming pair of shorts I’ve ever owned. They are high-waisted with an inseam longer than your average pair of denim shorts making them very age-appropriate. They run true to size, I’m wearing a 25.

ANOTHER WHITE BUTTON-DOWN OPTION FROM EXPRESS:

For a more budget-friendly option, this chic white button-down is from Express and one of my all-time faves. I sized up in this one in order to make it a bit more oversized and on-trend, so I’m wearing a size small.

5.) NUDE LACE-UP SANDALS (ONLY $40):

Lace-up sandals are all the rage this summer, and these are really comfortable ones I wear all the time for a more casual look. Best part? They’re only $40 which is an amazing price for sandals this quality! They come in lots of colors, including nude and white.

6.) THE MIDI SKIRT:

This is one of my favorite new summer skirts from a brand new line at Nordstrom called THE OPEN EDIT – an amazing new and affordable line just launched. This midi skirt is a beige, neutral color that goes with everything and is under $50! It does run a bit big, so I suggest sizing down one size – I’m wearing an XS.

7.) NUDE MULES:

The exact mules I’m wearing are sold out, but I found these that I love very similar and still affordable! Nude mules can totally elevate an outfit within seconds which is why I believe every woman should have a pair in her summer shoe collection.

8.) MADEWELL BLACK SHIRT:

This pretty button-down top from Madewell is a basic must-have piece for summer that is easy to dress up or down. I love it with shorts, however, it looks amazing with jeans as well. It’s a lightweight material that’s perfect for the warmer weather! This piece runs true to size, I’m wearing an XS.

9.) WHITE TOP:

I’ve worn this white top nonstop since I purchased it because it’s just that good. I love wearing it with denim shorts, jeans, and even skirts! It’s the best date night and GNO top for the summer season. It runs true to size, I’m wearing an XS.

10.) JOE’S LIGHT WASH JEANS:

I have been wearing these jeans on repeat this summer so far because I love them SO much! These are fabulous and super slimming since they’re high-wasited. They aren’t a super tight jogging material, however, they still are slim-fitting and tapered to the leg making them so flattering. They run true to size, I’m wearing a 24.

11.) WHITE BLAZER:

A white blazer is a basic wardrobe piece every woman should own. There are so many incredible things about a blazer, including how versatile, chic, and timeless they are. I love this gorgeous white blazer by Veronica Beard, however, if you’re looking for a more affordable option, I love this one too. It runs true to size, I’m wearing an XS.

12). WHITE LEATHER JACKET:

Yep, I wear jackets in the summertime because everyone keeps their AC crazy low here in Dallas, lol! Also, a third layer is a sure-fire way to spruce up any look day or night. I love this chic white leather jacket by La Marque, however, if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option, I love this one by Express that’s a fraction of the price.
