PACKING LIST FOR NEW YORK FASHION WEEK + MY FAVORITE PIECE I’M TAKING WITH ME
in Fashion on 09/09/2016
This photo was taken at Neimans while I was out shopping for New York Fashion Week with one of my favorite bloggers and dear friends, Cathy of The Middle Page. I decided to use this photo because of my fabulous bomber jacket – this is one of my favorite pieces I’m taking with me to NYFW! I’ll be pairing it with jeans and bodysuits for an ultra cool and laid-back look, and I also plan on layering it over a fitted burgundy slip dress and some chic fur heels for a more dressy ensemble.

The super bowl of fashion, NEW YORK FASHION WEEK is finally here and I’m super excited and grateful I’m going this year! I’m going with 5 other amazing Dallas bloggers: Tiffany Davros of Street Style Squad, Cathy Williamson of The Middle Page, Alicia Wood of The Lush List, Tanya Foster of Tanya Foster and Sheree Frede of She She Show. We are staying at the Michel Angelo Hotel, they have the most beautiful and spacious rooms and are centrally located.
We arrive on Saturday, the 10th and have a show to go to that night. On Sunday, we have another show, Veronica Beard, which I’m super excited about. Veronica Beard is one of my all time favorite designers, they are mostly known for their signature blazers that have the dickeys you can switch out. Cathy and I both bought this black Veronica Beard blazer and I’m wearing mine with the black leather dickey and jeans and these velvet heels to their fashion show. We also have a few back stage passes to shows which is always so much fun. Monday we have a crazy but fun day filled with 2 fashion shows, a Reward Style party and a photo shoot, I’ll be needing a glass of wine by the end of this day for sure! Tuesday is another Reward Style get together and some shopping (my favorite thing to do while in NYC). A few of my favorite shops in NYC are Barney’s, Bergdorf’s, Schutz Shoes, and I’ll probably pop into Intermix since they closed the one down in Dallas. I always try and go to stores they don’t have in Dallas. One of my favorite spots for lunch is Fred’s in Barney’s – we’ll be dining there for lunch on Tuesday. I’m super excited about this upcoming trip, a little stressed out to be honest, so much to organize and think about, but worth every minute! I love this part of my job and thank God every day for putting me here! I also thank God every day for all of you because I wouldn’t be here without you, so thank YOU!!
A few tips when packing for a trip where you have MANY events and parties to go to:
1.) OVER PACK – I’m a big believer in having too much versus noT enough. You never know what mood you’ll be in when getting ready for a certain event (I always pick my outfit based on my mood right before I get dressed) – this way you’ll have a choice of what to wear.
2.) ERR ON THE DRESSY SIDE – It’s always better to be over dressed than under dressed – ALWAYS. So, pack plenty of dresses, heels, handbags and accessories to amp up your look as much as your heart desires.
3.) LOOK AT PHOTOS FROM THE EVENT OR TYPE OF PARTY YOU’LL BE ATTENDING – This will give you an idea of what type of outfit you want to wear. When packing and shopping for this trip to NYC I looked on Pinterest and Instagram at some of my favorite accounts and read through some of my favorite fashion mags to inspire me.
4.) PACK ACCORDING TO THE WEATHER – Look at the weather starting at least 2 weeks prior and pack accordingly for rain, cold or hot weather.
5.) ALWAYS PACK AT LEAST ONE COMFORTABLE PAIR OF SHOES – For NYFW this is a must because we do a TON of walking. The first year I went I didn’t bring my comfy shoes with me and I actually had to go bare foot for a while before I caught a cab – my feet were hurting that bad! Don’t make this mistake, this year I’m bringing these really cool and comfy velvet burgundy sneakers with me to the shows and while I’m out and about so I can change into them if need be.
Now the fun part, here is what I’m packing for NEW YORK FASHION WEEK:
Thank you so much for stopping by today! Hope you have a fabulous weekend!! XOXO, Heather
