Looking expensive doesn’t have to break the bank! In fact, I’ve got some tried and true style tips I swear by that will help all of your outfits appear expensive, even if they’re not! One of my favorite tips is to choose neutral colors over crazy loud colors. Earth tones, especially camel shades, always appear very luxe looking. Case in point, this beautiful camel midi dress that comes with the matching camel shawl looks very luxe, however, it’s actually very budget-friendly! If you love wearing clothes that look expensive but you don’t want to spend an arm and a leg then keep scrolling because the following 7 FASHION HACKS will help you do just that. Feel free to watch the video I published on YouTube as well to see all of the following 7 spring looks in action.

8 WAYS TO LOOK EXPENSIVE ON A BUDGET:
1. OPT FOR NEUTRALS SHADES LIKE CAMEL:
Even if your item is not made of expensive fabric, opting for anything in a neutral shade will definitely help you look expensive on a budget. Think ivory, beige, and my all-time favorite – Camel. There is no color more expensive looking than camel when it comes to clothing in my opinion. If I had to choose a second, ivory would definitely be my next choice, followed by beige. Any of these colors will do a outstanding job of helping you look expensive on a budget.

2. OPT FOR ALL WHITE OR ALL BLACK UNDERNEATH AND ADD A THIRD LAYER:
I literally use this tip for all 4 seasons and for basically any type of weather. As you can see from the above look I opted for all ivory look with a fantastic denim vest as my 3rd layer and as a result my look appears more expensive than it really is. My denim vest is under $100 but since I followed this style hack, along with some others I will get to in a moment, you would never know it!

3. CHOOSE SOLIDS OVER CRAZY LOUD PRINTS:
Another sure fire way to look expensive on a budget is to choose solids over prints.
You may have noticed I barely ever wear prints because they can not only make you look larger than you really are but they also can detract from the main focus of any look… YOU! Everyone should think of their clothes as accessories and the main focus should be your beautiful personality, so you never want to wear something that’s too busy or crazy. Also, larger prints tend to look cheap and not very luxe, so I would advise you stay away from the crazy loud large prints and opt for solids instead!

4. MAKE SURE YOUR WARDROBE IS MADE UP OF MOSTLY BASICS VS. TREND PIECES:
Did you know your closet should be about 85 % basics and 15% trend pieces? This is very important when trying to look expensive on a budget because it’s going to make your wardrobe more functional, meaning you won’t have to purchase as many pieces. Quality and versatility will win over quantity every time. I guarantee you’re not going to have that dreaded feeling of “I have nothing to
wear” if you have a closet full of amazing basics that are versatile and functional.

5. ONLY INVEST IN SHOES, HANDBAGS, AND OUTERWEAR:
In order to look more expensive on a budget, a great tip is to only invest in shoes, handbags and outerwear. Everything else doesn’t need to BE expensive in order to LOOK expensive, but I would recommend you save your money for those 3 categories. Keep in mind, this isn’t a hard and fast rule and you don’t have to run out and invest a ton of money all at once. It has taken me many years to build my wardrobe of high quality investment pieces so just focus on one thing at a time and watch getting dressed in the morning get easier and easier!

6. ALWAYS ADD A THIRD LAYER:
As I mentioned earlier in tip #1, adding a 3rd layer is a fantastic way to look expensive on a budget. Always add a jacket, whether that’s a blazer, leather jacket, denim jacket or army jacket, it really doesn’t matter! When you top off your look with a jacket you’re just going to look more expensive and luxe, I promise.

7. STAY AWAY FROM FABRICS THAT WRINKLE:
My final tip for how to look expensive on a budget is choosing high-quality fabrics. This is key when it comes to looking polished and put together. Fabrics such as silk, wool, leather, even faux leather and vegan leather can look far more expensive than a lot of thinner fabrics. My favorite material is anything in a ribbed knit because it looks expensive and DOESN’T WRINKLE! If I can give you just one piece of advice for this tip, ALWAYS go for fabric that doesn’t wrinkle. The express blazer I’m wearing above is a great example of a jacket that looks expensive because of the high-quality wrinkle-free material, but because it’s from Express it’s very budget-friendly. I’m wearing an XS for size reference.
