In today’s video, I’m covering 6 tips on how to dress expensive on a budget. In this look, I’m sticking to one of my tips by NOT spending a ton of money on my top because I never suggest never overspending on tops since it’s NOT an item you’ll necessarily wear a ton. Scroll down to view all 6 tips sure to save you some money while looking amazing at the same time!
SHOP MY LOOK: (TOP IS UNDER $100)
The reason my look in today’s post seems more expensive than it really is is that I’m carrying a designer bag so no one really notices that my top is actually under $100! Also, my shoes are not designed by a premium designer but are still high quality and chic looking! Finally, if you are going to do a print a suggest an animal print such as zebra, leopard, or python because wearing any kind of animal print always seems to look more luxe!
ZEBRA PRINT TOP:
My zebra print top is from Topshop available at Nordstrom and the minute I laid eyes on it I knew I loved it! First off, I’m a huge fan of zebra print and I loved that this one was a bit unique because instead of being your typical black and white this zebra print it’s actually ivory and olive green which is so perfect for sprint and summer! I adore wearing this top tied at the waist with high rise denim or even a with a pair of high-rise of cut-offs would be so chic! I just got the best fitting cut-offs ever made so stay tuned for a post of me wearing those in the next few weeks. The best part, this fabulous top is under $100 and trust me when I say it looks way more expensive than it really is in person! Grab this top asap if you love it as much as I do because I predict this one will sell out! It runs true to size, I’m wearing a size US size 4.
My jeans are by Boyish which is a new favorite denim line of mine! They’re made of that rigid vintage-inspired denim which is all the rage right now by the way. I love the high-waist and ankle length making these jeans super flattering and very slimming which is always a plus! These jeans run a tad bit big so I suggest sizing down one size, I’m wearing a size 24.

These wedges reminded of some premium designer wedges, however, they’re a fraction of the price and so good! This metallic gold shade will literally match all of your spring and summer looks and can I just tell you how comfortable they are?! I wore them all day around town to run errands and then to dinner and my feet literally never hurt! These uber chic and super sleek wedges are sure to take all of your spring and summer looks to the next level without breaking the bank, you’re welcome!

6 TIPS ON HOW TO DRESS EXPENSIVE ON A BUDGET:
1.) REPLACE THE BUTTONS ON YOUR BLAZERS:
There are so many amazing under $100 blazers out there and most of them I love but what makes them look even better and more luxe is if you replace the buttons with more silver or gold plated ones like the silver ones I had on in the video. These buttons remind me of the buttons they use on Balmain blazers which run for about $2k! I took that purple blazer I was wearing in the video up to one of the best button places in all of Dallas called Benno’s Buttons and let me tell you, they have the BEST selection of buttons and all of them are super luxe looking! If you don’t live in Dallas, no worries, you can order these amazing buttons online. They replaced my brown tortoiseshell buttons that came on my Smythe blazer for the sleek silver ones I picked out for only $30, what a deal and it literally made my blazer look so much better!!! If you have some blazers in your closet and you want them to look more expensive I highly recommend changing out the buttons for silver or gold ones, trust me, it will make all the difference in the world!
2.) WEAR A DESIGNER BELT:
If you want an outfit to look more expensive just add a designer belt and I promise that will do the trick! I wear my Gucci belt a ton as you know if you’ve been reading my blog for a while now. I bet I’ve worn my Gucci belt over 100 times making it well worth the investment when you consider the cost per wear. And remember, you don’t have to pay full price for a designer belt, I suggest looking on The Real Real (one of my shopping tips from last weeks video) – they have a ton of designer belts on sale for much less! But even if you do decide to buy a new Gucci belt it is worth it as long as you wear it a ton and my bet is that you will because it’s literally the perfect topper to any look sure to take it up a few notches!
3.) INVEST IN YOUR HANDBAG AND SHOES:
I’ve said this many times before on my blog and I’ll say it again ladies, save your money for your shoes and handbags, not trendy pieces such as printed tops! I’ve had my Chanel bag for years and I still carry it a ton making it well worth the investment when I consider the cost per wear. The resale value on designer bags especially Chanel bags is really good too so when I get tired of it I can sell it. If you’re on the hunt for an amazing designer bag or designer pair of shoes I suggest grabbing them on The Real Real or on one of the outlet stores I mentioned in last weeks post. No matter what you’re wearing if you’re carrying a high-quality handbag and wearing a chic pair of shoes it will make your entire ensemble look more expensive. You don’t have to add a designer bag to your wardrobe necessarily just as long as it’s high quality. My favorite brand of high-quality handbags that won’t break the bank is Rebecca Minkoff’s handbags, all so chic yet very affordable!
4.) PICK SUEDE OVER LEATHER:
When you have the choice, always, always, pick suede shoes over leather ones! Trust me when I tell you that suede just looks more luxe and more expensive than leather! I have some gray suede pumps as you can see in the video and those aren’t by a premium designer but because they’re suede they look better than some of my premium designer pumps in my closet.
5.) GO MONOCHROME:
Women who dress in different shades and textures but in all one color are the epitome of chic in my mind. Not only will a monochrome look make you look more luxe but it’s also very slimming and will even make you look taller, need I say more?!
6.) PICK SOLIDS OVER PRINTS:
Solid fabrics and more specifically dark solid fabrics are harder to tell if they’re cheap because the fabric is dark. So when in doubt go with black, brown, or gray tones when buying something on the more budget-friendly side because no one will notice since it’s a dark solid fabric! If you are going to go with a print I suggest an animal print such as zebra or leopard like the top I’m wearing in this post.
