TRAVEL GUIDE TO LA + EPIC SALE ALERT

Good morning ladies!  I love taking girl trips, in fact, it’s probably one of my all-time favorite things to do, who’s with me? Cathy of The Middle Page, one of my dearest friends and fellow influencer and I decided to take a fun trip to LA because we both love to go shopping, eat at amazing restaurants, and look for celebs of course and LA is a perfect place for all of the above!   We did work a little while we were there too!  This is when we shot our fun video with the gorgeous Rachel Zoe!  I’m going to share where we stayed, some of our favorite places to eat and shop too so if you ever decide to go to LA you’ll have some fun options to consider.

HOW TO STYLE THE KIMONO:

1.) PAIR IT WITH SKINNY JEANS:

Because kimonos are long and flowy it’s important to keep the rest of your outfit fitted so you don’t end up looking swallowed up by the kimono.  The best option to wear on the bottom would be some fabulous skinny jeans!  I picked up these jeans by Paige at the new Paige store in Pacific Palisades, a new shopping destination near LA definitely worth a trip!  They’re a medium wash which means they’re good to wear all year round and I love the edgy distressing and raw edge hem making these uber chic jeans anything but ordinary.  I wore these super slimming high-waisted jeans on the way home to the airport because they’re very comfortable!  If you’ve been looking for a new pair of skinny jeans to add to your denim collection you can wear all round these are your answer!  They run true to size, I’m wearing a size 25.

2.) WEAR A FITTED TOP:

Again, since the kimono is long and flowy it’s important to keep everything underneath sleek and fitted and this goes for your top.  I opted for a bodysuit because a bodysuit is fitted and slimming and you don’t have to worry about it coming untucked or bunching up which is always a plus!  This exact bodysuit which is by Alice & Olivia is by far my favorite bodysuit I have hanging in my closet and the one I wear the most.  I love the sexy v-neckline and the bottom doesn’t have snaps like most bodysuits so it’s actually comfortable!  Don’t worry about going to the bathroom being a pain – just pull it to the side for the easist way to go, lol! This bodysuit is a little pricey but well worth it when you consider the cost per wear.  I have had it for 2 years and worn it over 20 times no doubt and it still looks and feels brand new!  It runs small, I’m wearing a size small as opposed to an XS so I would suggest sizing up one size.

3.) WEAR A HEEL:

Because kimonos are long it’s important to wear a heel of some sort especially if your petite (5’4 or under) like me, otherwise wearing a long jacket can end up making you look short.  I love the Gucci platforms I’m wearing with this chic kimono and yes they were quite a splurge a for me, but every once in a blue moon I’ll splurge on something I know I’ll wear a ton and will make a huge statement and these qualified for both!  If high heels aren’t your thing, no worries, a wedge or even a 3-inch low heel will do the trick of elongating your legs and completing your kimono look sure to take it the next level of chic!

This chic kimono by Alice and Olivia is such a fun and versatile piece perfect to add to any spring wardrobe!  I adore the bright fun colors all so perfect for spring and summer and the bell sleeves are a fabulous chic touch!  You could also wear this kimono with cut-offs and a simple tee for a more casual look in the summertime or throw it over a swimsuit at the beach and wear it as a fabulous cover-up.  The possibilities are endless because this chic kimono is so versatile!  The best part, it’s currently 25% off through Sunday so now is the perfect time to add it to your spring wardrobe, trust me, your future self will thank you!

Now, onto a few fun details about our girls trip to LA:

WHERE WE STAYED IN LA:

We stayed at the Kimpton Le Peer hotel which is located in West Hollywood, it’s very close to Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive and Melrose Ave which is where we love to shop.  The decor is fresh and modern, I was obsessed with all the amazing art on the walls too!  My favorite piece was a super cool photo of Angelina Jolie smoking, it was just so sexy and cool!  The rooms are spacious, comfortable and cozy with clean and fresh decor.  It has a gorgeous pool and a very cool bar outside which is always good to have in LA because the weather is usually perfect for outdoor activities!  The price range is very reasonable, in fact, I thought it should have been much higher for as nice and new this hotel was.

WHERE WE SHOPPED:

I always love to hit Barney’s and Saks since they aren’t in Dallas anymore.  Barney’s has more of an edgy vibe which is my thing, however, if that’s not your cup of tea you’ll probably like Saks better.  We always love going to Intermix since that is no longer in Dallas either, and I would say this is my all time favorite store!  There is one located in Beverly Hills and in West Hollywood, going to both is worth it because they carry different things.  We also popped into Planet Blue which is a little younger so if you have teenage daughters or you’re in your 20’s or 30’s this would be a great place to stop into.  Jill Robert’s boutique located on N. Bedford Dr in Beverly Hills is another one of our favorite’s.  They carry tons of denim and casual streetwear and it’s all super chic with that cool-girl laid back vibe.

We also went to the Malibu Country Mart which is a beautiful outdoor located in Malibu about an hour from Beverly Hills and definitely worth the drive.  There are tons of really cool stores there such as Intermix, Alice & Olivia, Ron Herman and Madison just to name a few.

Our final stop was Pacific Palisades which is about 40 minutes from Beverly Hills with traffic and there are tons of fabulous stores here as well such as Rachel Zoe, Paige Denim, Anine Bing, and my personal favorite Forward by Elyse Walker which carries tons of designer shoes, handbags, denim, and contemporary street wear you won’t find anywhere else.

WHERE WE ATE +  A FUN CELEB SIGHTING OR 2:

Our favorite place to eat lunch is The Ivy which is located in West Hollywood on Robertson and this is a great place to spot celebs!  The decor is adorable, the food is delicious and the location is perfect because there are tons of great shops right around it including my favorite which is Intermix.

We also love to eat dinner at Craig’s which is walking distance from Le Peer by the way, the food is amazing and this another place you will have a great chance of a celeb sighting.  In fact, the night we tried to eat here (the wait was too long) we saw Jennifer Lopez and A Rod – can you believe that?!  Let me just tell you Jlo looks even more gorgeous in person, her skin was glowing and her body is amazing!  She was wearing all black with a top knot and super chic hoops and looked like a million bucks!  Arod looks even more handsome in person too by the way!

For delicious Asian food Mr. Chow is out of the world, they have this shrimp dish that is amazing!
