How to Wear Flares

As you know if you have been reading my blog for a while, I’m a big fan of flares and here’s why:  they are the most flattering jeans on the market – no matter what your body type.  They are a huge trend this fall so think about adding at least one pair to your fall wardrobe.

Keep these 3 simple rules in mind when wearing your favorite pair of flares:

1.)  HEM THEM APPROPRIATELY – I always wear the shoe that I am going to normally wear with my flare jeans when I visit the taylor and I almost always have to have my jeans hemmed since I’m only 5’4.  I ask the tailor to hem my jeans 1/8 of an inch off the floor – basically just a hair off the ground – the worst thing you can do is wear your flares too short!

2.)  CHOOSE YOUR TOP CAREFULLY:  Since flare jeans are bigger at the bottom you want to make sure you choose a more fitted or slightly cropped top so you accentuate your waist line.  If your shirt isn’t short enough to show off your waist, consider tucking in just the front of the top for a chic and casual look.

3.)  WEAR A WEDGE OR PLATFORM:  The main reason flare jeans are so flattering is because they elongate your legs and make you appear taller and thinner. To exaggerate this even more choose a wedge or platform shoe which will make your legs look EVEN LONGER….and who doesn’t want that?!
