This time of year it’s kinda tricky when it comes to what you want to wear versus what is practical to wear. If you live somewhere warm, or hot rather, like Dallas where temps reach 100+ degrees for at least a month but you want to start wearing some fall pieces now without melting then this post is for you!
This time of year it’s all about transitional dressing which basically means wearing pieces you can wear now as well as into fall. I like to call them wear now, wear later pieces. The 5 that I’m featuring today are all jackets and yes they can be worn now since most places in the south overuse the AC which means I’m always grabbing a jacket on my way out the door even in the summertime. MADEWELL DENIM BLAZER:
First on my list of the best transitional jackets for summer to fall is this denim blazer from Madewell. I’m a denim addict so when I saw this blazer it was instant love at first sight. I love the double-breasted design and it can easily be dressed up or down, depending on your needs. If you’re looking for a double denim piece, this is a chic & affordable option. I’m wearing an XS and find it fits true to size.
AGOLDE DEE SHORTS:
I paired the blazer above with one of my all-time favorite pairs of shorts from Agolde. I love the Dee shorts so much that I own them in multiple washes, but this light wash paired with the darker hue of the blazer is the perfect balance for the end of the summer season. The wider legs and high waist make the fit of these shorts an absolute dream and I wear a size 24 for reference.

ALC CROPPED BLAZER:
This cropped blazer from A.L.C. is one of my favorites because it’s SO comfortable! It’s made with a bit of stretch to the cotton so it flexes with your body but it will still keep you cool in the end-of-summer heat. The luxe gold hardware really elevates this jacket to the next level as well! I’m wearing a size 2 in this fall must-have.

This next cropped bomber jacket is from Express so you know you’ll be getting designer quality for a fraction of the price! This jacket is under $100 and comes in one of the hottest colors for fall: olive green. The fit is fantastic and the cropped length goes perfectly with my midi skirt. I’m wearing an XS in this fall staple and find it fits true to size.

FRAME DENIM JACKET:
A denim jacket is a closet staple that can be worn all year round so it’s no surprise to find one on my list of the best transitional jackets for summer to fall. This one by Frame is one of my favorites because it has an edgy distressed hem and it comes in the perfect medium wash. I’m wearing an XS in this wardrobe essential and find it fits true to size.
BETTER FOR BUDGET:
If the designer version above is out of your budget not to worry! This option from Mavi Jeans has a fabulous price point under $70 and the bleached hem really sets it apart. Whichever option you choose, I guarantee these jackets will function beautifully through the end of summer to the fall season.

Last but not least on my list of the best transitional jackets is this classic blazer from Express with a twist. The slightly padded shoulders and stretch fabric improve your typical blazer while keeping all the traditional elements we love. I also happen to think this is THE perfect neutral beige shade, not too warm and not too cool. I’m wearing an XS in this fabulous fall staple.
