5 Things I Stopped Buying Now That I’m 50

First on my list of what I’m not buying now that I’m 50 is bright neon colors. I was buying some brighter colors for a while and I loved them while they were on, but I found myself just not reaching for them after a short time. I’ve never been a fan of crazy loud prints so I won’t be buying those either. I’ll be sticking to more neutral shades like this faux leather puffer jacket. I’m wearing the camel color here but there is limited sizes available in that shade so I’m also linking the sage green color, which is another gorgeous neutral tone and fully stocked. I wear an XS and it fits true to size.

This next item is something I won’t be buying, not because I’m 50 but because I don’t feel like my best self when I wear them.  If you guessed crop tops, you’re right! Instead I’ll be sticking to cropped jackets, which is not only a HUGE trend in 2024 but also makes me feel like the best version of myself. This stunning cropped denim jacket is trimmed in gold, which incorporates the metallic trend and brings the perfect amount of edge to this look! I wear an XS and I find it fits true to size.

Another item on my list of what I’m not buying now that I’m 50 is overly distressed jeans. I love a little distressing to give your denim some edge, but that is about as much as I’m interested in. Instead I’ll be buying jeans with minimal rips or no rips at all like these amazing jeans by Grlfrnd Denim. These flare jeans are incredibly slimming and are one of the most universally flattering styles of denim around. I wear size 24 in these must-have jeans.

You won’t find much fast fashion in my closet moving forward and I have to say I feel so good about it! Not only will focusing on investment pieces keep my closet more streamlined, but it’s more economical over time AND it’s better for the planet. I’ll be buying more investment pieces that will stand the test of time like this Veronica Beard Scuba blazer. This is one of the most timeless and classic jackets I own and it’s lasted YEARS in my closet with regular use. I wear a size 0 in this must-have investment piece.

Last on my list of what I’m not buying now that I’m 50 is anything I don’t absolutely love! Unless it’s a 100% YES I won’t be buying it. If I’m the least bit unsure, I’ll pass and wait until I find something that really speaks to me. Something like this FABULOUS faux fur trimmed moto jacket! This jacket is edgy and cool and checks all the boxes for me. I wear an XS and it fits true to size.
