The Oversized Cardi

This season is all about over-sized cardigans, blazers, coats, you name it, the more over-sized it is the better.  However, you need to be careful when wearing over-sized clothing, you don’t want to look like the clothes are swallowing you and you want to be sure you’re still showing off your silhouette.  Here are 3 things to keep in mind when wearing an over-sized coat or cardigan:

1.)  Choose slim fitting pieces to wear underneath the cardi, a pant or jean that has a skinny leg or slim boot cut would be ideal and keep your top simple and form fitting as well, this will ensure that you don’t look like everything you’re wearing is too big and you’ll still be able to show off your shape.

2.)  Pair with a heel – this elongates the legs and makes you look and appear taller and thinner – always a plus which is why I wear heels 99% of the time.

3.)  Opt for black – I just recently posted a quote on Instagram saying “I own too much black, said no women ever.”  I couldn’t agree more.  I think wearing black underneath an over-sized cardigan or coat is the way to go and here’s why – black is slimming and always looks so chic and sophisticated!  When in doubt, wear black, you just can’t go wrong!
