Happy Friday gorgeous ladies!  Well, today is the day that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is live to the public so even if you don’t have a Nordstrom card you are able to shop this amazing sale TODAY, yay!  I’ve spent hours perusing the Nordstrom to find all the chicest pieces STILL IN STOCK because tons of things sell out fast during this sale.  I thought I would organize all of these chic finds into a 15 piece capsule wardrobe which should help make your wardrobe more functional and make getting dressed in the mornings easier for you because after all, isn’t that why I’m here?  Scroll down to view each wardrobe capsule piece under the corresponding photo.   You’ll be able to shop the rest of the look as well underneath the photo and all of the below 11 looks are part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!

For those of you who don’t know what a capsule wardrobe is or need some more clarification on why it’s so amazing I’ll give you a few tips as to why you should start building your own capsule wardrobe.  First off, a capsule wardrobe is filled with key pieces that you can wear over and over again and mix with one another to create tons of chic and timeless looks.  These are not trendy pieces so none of these wardrobe staples will go out of style anytime soon, I promise.  Having a closet full of timeless and versatile capsule basics will make getting dressed so much easier for you because all of the pieces can be mixed and matched to create numerous chic looks perfect for any occasion, dressy or casual!  This is going to be a great post for you to refer back to in order to ensure you have all the necessary basics in order to have the most functional wardrobe!

15 PIECE CAPSULE WARDROBE CHECKLIST 2019:

CAPSULE WARDROBE ITEM 1: THE BLACK LEATHER JACKET

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, every chic woman needs a black leather jacket in her jacket collection!  It’s the number one jacket I could NOT live without and the reason is that it’s the most versatile jacket hanging in my closet.  It looks amazing with jeans, midi skirts, dresses, cut-offs, denim skirts, and I could keep going proving that a black leather jacket is a must-have!  The one I’m wearing is by Chelsea28 and it’s part of the NSALE so the price point is amazing, only $199 for this buttery soft REAL leather jacket.  I’ve honestly never seen a black leather jacket this good for under $200.  It runs a tad bit big so if you ‘re between sizes I would size down otherwise take your regular size.  I’m wearing a size XS.

CAPSULE WARDROBE ITEM #2:  THE ARMY JACKET

I have a few army jackets in my jacket collection and I wear them all a ton!  The reason is that an army jacket can be dressed up or down and worn so many places.  It’s my go-to jacket on the weekends when I want to be super casual yet look cute.  I pair it with ripped jeans, a simple white tee, and some chic sneakers to complete this casual ensemble.  When I want to an army jacket on a date night or GNO I dress it up by pairing it with a cami and some fabulous heels.  The one I”m wearing is by Rails and I featured it in Wednesday’s blog post titled:  THE 10 BEST JACKETS OF THE NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE.  I love this shade of green and the super cool patches make this cool girl army jacket anything but ordinary.  This jacket runs true to size, I’m wearing a size S (need the XS but they didn’t have my size).

CAPSULE WARDROBE ITEM #3:  THE CHUNKY CARDIGAN

A chunky cardigan in a neutral color is a must because you can literally throw it on with jeans a simple tee and be comfortable yet looked polished and put together!  These are also my favorite thing to travel in or go to the movies in because they’re so incredibly cozy!  This one by Vince is so it’s super luxe feeling and looking, it’s literally the softest thing ever and I love this versatile gray shade.  Since Vince cardigans are more on the expensive side now is a great time to grab one because it’s part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!  It runs true to size, I’m wearing an XS.

CAPSULE WARDROBE ITEM #4:  A BLACK BLAZER

The second most versatile jacket ever made just behind the black leather jacket is the black blazer!  It can be worn to the office, on a date night over a fitted midi dress, to a holiday party with black leather pants and a sequin cami, or super casual with cut-offs and sneakers, the possibilities are endless proving the versatility of a black blazer.  I love the one I’m wearing by 1.State for several reasons.  First, the ruched sleeves are super cool because it gives off the perfect effortless vibe and you never have to worry about these sleeves coming down.  It’s made of high-quality wrinkle-free material and the fit is impeccable.  The best part, this timeless blazer is on SALE for under $100!  It runs true to size, I’m wearing an XS.

CAPSULE WARDROBE ITEM #5:  BLACK JEANS

Black skinny jeans make you look taller and slimmer and literally go with everything, need I say more?  Wearing a pair of black jeans is a sure-fire way to dress up any look and these jeans by Paige will do just that!  They’re part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale so now is a great time to scoop them up!  They’re super flattering because of the high-rise and the ankle-length which is perfect for showing off you favorite heel of the moment! They run true to size, I’m wearing a size 25.

SHOP LOOK 5:

CAPSULE WARDROBE ITEM #6:  GRAY JEANS

Some might argue that these are faded black jeans but either way a pair of non-ripped faded black or gray jeans are a definite must in any functional wardrobe!  I wear my faded black jeans the most out of any other color of denim in the fall and winter and here’s why.  First, this color is so versatile, it literally goes with everything.  Second, I think a this faded black color of denim adds a perfect amount of edginess to any look which I love!  These flattering high-waisted jeans are by Something Navy and yes they’re part of the Nordstrom Sale which means they are a crazy good deal!  They’re currently on sale for only $58, quite a steal for such a cool pair of jeans!  They run true to size, I’m wearing a size 25.

SHOP LOOK 6:

CAPSULE WARDROBE ITEM #7: FLARE JEANS

Yes, flares are making a come back and if you ask me they never really went out of style.  They’re hands-down the most universally flattering jeans on the market because they make anyone look taller an slimmer!  I love these flares by Good American, this light wash will go with so much and they’re super comfortable!  They run big so I suggest ordering one size down, I’m wearing a size 00/24.

SHOP LOOK 7:

CAPSULE WARDROBE ITEM #8:  V-NECK TEE

This $11 tee is from the Nordstrom Anniversary and I get it every year because it’s that good!  In order to have a functional wardrobe, I would get this tee in black and gray too because those are neutral colors that will pair well with all of the other pieces in this epic wardrobe capsule!

SHOP LOOK 8:

CAPSULE WARDROBE ITEM #9:  LONG SLEEVE TEE

When it gets colder come winter time it’s very necessary to have a few basic long sleeve tees to layer under some of your favorite jackets like the ones I mentioned above.  This one is super soft and I love that the sleeves are extra long so they peek through the sleeves of your jackets.  The v-neckline is also super flattering as it will make you look taller and slimmer! This one comes in several colors and it’s on SALE for only $38.90, at this price you should grab a few!

CAPSULE WARDROBE ITEM #10:  CAMISOLE

I wear cami’s a ton under my jackets during the day and at night.  It’s a chic way to dress up any look.  Since I wear them so much I’m always on the hunt to find good ones during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  The exact one I’m wearing in the photo above is actually by Caminyc and not part of the sale but I included this photo so you could see how chic a cami looks under a jacket.  The one I chose from the NSALE is by 1.State.   It has a gorgeous sheer chiffon insert along with a slimming v-neckline!  It comes in white and black and it’s on sale for only $38!

CAPSULE WARDROBE ITEM #11:  A MIDI DRESS

I’m a huge fan of the midi dress because it’s the most flattering style of dress to wear for all ages since it hits just below the knee.  This one by Topshop is ON SALE for under $40 and it’s super slimming and incredibly chic!  It comes in a burnt orange color too but I recommend adding the gray since it’s a more versatile shade and it fits in more effortlessly to this 15 piece capsule wardrobe.  It runs small so order one size up, I’m wearing a size US 4.

CAPSULE WARDROBE ITEM #12: ANIMAL PRINT BOOTIES

Animal print booties are a great way to incorporate a subtle print into your looks. I’m a huge fan of snake print and these 2 booties below I highly recommend!  They’re both under $100 and fairly comfortable since the heel height on both of them is fairly low.  Throw on a pair of snake print booties with any of these chic pieces from the epic 15 piece capsule wardrobe and you are guaranteed to get a few compliments!

CAPSULE WARDROBE ITEM #13: BLACK BOOTIES

I adore these chic black booties by Halogen and they’re ON SALE for only $59!  A pair of comfortable black booties is a definite wardrobe essential.  These chic black booties pair well with jeans, skirts, and dresses proving their versatility and wearability!

SHOP LOOK 13:

CAPSULE WARDROBE ITEM #14: NUDE SUEDE HEELS

Refer to photo number 1 so you can see for yourself how elongating a nude heel is!  Nude heels look so good with jeans, dresses, and skirts and literally match everything.  When you want to look taller and slimmer put on a pair of sleek nude heels and I promise you will achieve just that!  The ones I’m recommending from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale are by Vince Camuto and they’re a suede (not leather) ankle strap heel and they’re on sale for under $100!  The reason I chose suede and not leather is because suede always looks more expensive than leather when it comes to shoes, always.  This lowish block heel will be super comfortable making these uber-chic heels very wearable.

My zebra print sweater is part of the Nordstrom Anniversary and STILL IN STOCK!  It’s so chic and would you believe it’s only $58?!  It runs true to size, I’m wearing an XS.

CAPSULE WARDROBE ITEM #15: A NEUTRAL HANDBAG

A chic neutral handbag and one that is high quality is a must in order to make any wardrobe functional.  You should choose a handbag that will go with everything and bring all of your looks up a notch.  For purposes of this 15 piece capsule wardrobe, I chose this fabulous black bag by Rebecca Minkoff.  I also love this chic leopard bag and remember ladies you can and should treat leopard as a neutral!
