Happy Friday ladies!  If you’ve been following my blog or watching my YouTube videos for a while now, you know I’m a jacket lover!  Adding a third layer to any look is a sure-fire way to bring it to the next level of chic. This is why I wear jackets in the summertime!  One style that I happen to be a huge fan of is the cropped jacket. Whether that be a blazer, a moto jacket, or even a denim jacket, if it’s cropped, I’m all in!  Why you may ask?  Well, it’s because a cropped jacket is one way to always look taller and even slimmer if you know what to style it with.  If you’re wondering how to wear a cropped blazer and look taller and slimmer then be sure and continue reading as I’m going to give you 3 easy and simple style tips you should follow when wearing a cropped blazer to ensure you will look like the best version of yourself!

HOW TO WEAR A CROPPED BLAZER:

1.) Keep Everything Fitted Underneath:

If you want to look taller and thinner in your cropped jacket then keep everything else underneath form-fitting.  As you can see from today’s post, I did just that by pairing this chic cropped blazer with a simple white bodysuit and some slimming skinny jeans by Citizens of Humanity.  Since most cropped jackets have a bit more volume than say a structured jacket it’s key to wear clothes that are fitted in order not to get swallowed up or cut off by the cropped jacket.

2.) Tuck Your Shirt In:

I can’t emphasize this one enough, but tucking your shirt in, no matter what your size will make you look taller and thinner!  Leaving your shirt un-tucked with a cropped jacket can end up looking sloppy especially if the shirt hits you at your hips or below since our hips are typically the widest part of our bodies.  If you don’t want to tuck your shirt in all the way then I suggest doing a half-tuck because that will still show off the waistline as opposed to hiding it.  Tucking in your shirt also makes your legs look longer because you are bringing the eye up and showing more of your legs which obviously elongates them.

3.) Wear a Scoop Neck-Line:

Being petite (5’4 or under) I’m always looking for ways to appear taller.  Consequently, I always wear tops with either a v-neckline or a scoop line because it shows off more of my decollete which elongates my frame hence making me appear taller and thinner.  This styling trick works with a cropped jacket of course, but it also works with any type of jacket.  Another reason choosing a scoop neckline is key is that it allows you to show off some of your favorite necklaces and layering necklaces is another sure-fire way to elevate to any look and it even helps you appear taller and thinner too!

This pretty pink cropped blazer is such an amazing color for the summer. It’s also very lightweight making it the perfect layering piece for a basic tank or bodysuit even in the warm weather. I love the button-front style and notched lapels with front pockets! Best part? It’s under $130 which is such a great price for a cropped blazer like this. It runs true to size, I’m wearing an XS.

WHITE BODYSUIT:

As you may know, my Alice and Olivia bodysuit is one of my favorite pieces in my closet! I wear this bodysuit with everything because it’s basically just a camisole minus the worry about tucking it in. I love the gorgeous cowl neck and drapey fabric making this piece tastefully sexy and edgy. It also comes in black which I love. If this one is out of your budget, no worries, I found a similar one from Nordstrom that’s just as good and a fraction of the price! The bodysuit runs true to size, I’m wearing an XS.

JEANS:

There’s nothing better than a light wash pair of denim in the summertime. These Citizens of Humanity jeans are high rise with a slim ankle making you look taller and slimmer in seconds! These are some of my favorite jeans to wear in the summer because they are comfortable and flattering which I love. I recommend sizing down in these since they run a bit big, I’m wearing a size 24.
