Happy Monday gorgeous ladies! I hope all of you kept cool this weekend, it was a hot one!
One of the things I’ve always thought was pretty funny is that whenever I wear sneakers or flat sandals (which isn’t very often by the way) people are always so surprised at how short I really am. Also, if I meet someone in person for the first time that has been reading my blog for a while they too are surprised at how short I am, they say I look much taller on my blog. Well, I attribute that to 2 things, first my very talented photographer, Mary Hafner, does an outstanding job of shooting me at just the right level and angle to make me appear taller, so a big thank you to Mary!
The second reason I appear taller is because of the way I dress. I’m going to share 5 style tips on how to make yourself look taller that I use almost everyday that help me appear taller and thinner, by the way, I’m only 5’4.
MY TOP IS 40% OFF MAKING IT UNDER $50! I’M WEARING AN XS.
HOW TO MAKE YOURSELF LOOK TALLER:
1.) WEAR ANKLE LENGTH PANTS OR JEANS:
I always get my jeans hemmed unless I get lucky enough to find a pair that hit me in perfect place which is right above the ankle bone. If you wear jeans that are too long or gather at the bottom this only makes your legs looks shorter and bigger. Wearing ankle length pants or jeans also allows you to show off your favorite pair of heels or wedges which will also make you appear taller!
2.) WEAR HIGH-WAISTED PANTS OR JEANS:
I’ve always been a fan of the high-waisted pant or jean, even when they weren’t in style and here’s why: Because the waist line sits up higher on your body so it gives the illusion of longer and slimmer legs and who doesn’t want that?!
3.) WEAR HEELS:
I wear heels 95% of the time for 2 reasons, one they make me look taller and two I feel more confidentwhen I wear heels, period. If heels are hard for you to wear, remember this, it doesn’t have to be a high stiletto, even wearing a wedge, kitten heel, or block heel will lift you enough to make you look taller and slimmer, trust me!
4.) TUCK IN YOUR SHIRT:
Wearing fitted clothes and making sure you tuck your shirt in, at least tucking it in the front (known as the half tuck) will show off your waist line drawing the eye up and making your legs look longer and you appear taller. I always, always tuck my shirt in for this reason.
5.) WEAR SHORTER JACKETS:
95% of the jackets in my closet are on the shorter side hitting me right below the waist line and that’s not on accident. Since I’m only 5’4 wearing a long jacket makes me look short and over-taken by my outfit. One of my go-to outfit formulas and one that I wear a ton is a cropped jacket, a simple tee or cami, a pair jeans (duh), and heels. If you want to look taller I suggest ditching all of your long jackets, and opt for one that hits right below or at your waist line.

Bottom line is this, wear what you love and what you feel most confident in because confidence is the best accessory any woman can wear!
HOW TO MAKE YOURSELF LOOK TALLER IN PHOTOS:
1.) Never Stand Facing the Camera Square On:
Always turn to the side just slightly, this slight angle will make not only look taller but it’s creates an illusion of a slimmer silhouette as well, always a plus!
2.) Have the person taking your photo hold the camera or I phone at YOUR eye level or just a little LOWER:
There is a myth out there that holding the camera above you or higher than your head will make you look tall and thin, this is false! I know this because I used to think that when I first started blogging 6 years ago and yes, my husband, took my photos back then and he would shoot me at his eye level and he’s 6’2 and I’m only 5’4 so that angle made me look really short! My talented photographer now shoots me at a much lower angle making me appear much taller than I really am.
3.) Always bend one leg slightly:
My brother makes fun of me for doing this, lol, but it really works! Every time I get my photo taken whether it’s for my blog or just for fun with my family or friends I always turn to the side just slightly and bend one of my legs a little and this creates the illusion of a thinner and taller frame.
