in Fashion on 12/06/2023
Who else loves the ease and effortlessness of throwing on a dress in the summertime? I know I do, which is why I wear both casual and elevated dresses a ton this time of year. Dresses are much cooler to wear in warmer weather than a heavier fabric like denim and I love that you can style most dresses up or down depending on what accessories you pair them with. There are some key style tips to keep in mind when wearing dresses to ensure you look tall, slim, and like the best version of yourself! These are style tips I live by and practice on a daily basis that really do make a big difference. So, if you want to look stylish and slimmer in your dresses this summer then keep scrolling because you’re in for a real treat!
I’m featuring 5 key style tips to keep in mind when wearing a dress that are guaranteed to give you a trim silhouette with minimal effort. I’ve showcased these tips in the 4 following summer dresses so keep scrolling for some serious summer outfit inspo!

TIP #1: CHOOSE A V-NECK LINE OR SCOOP NECKLINE:
My first tip in this guide for how to look slimmer in a dress is to opt for a v-neck or a scoop neckline. The shape of the neckline draws your eye down, which elongates the top portion of your body. This is a very easy tip to follow and it will make a world of difference to your silhouette. The plunging neckline of this EB denim dress is a perfect example and the wrap design with the center slit will also go a long way towards making you appear more slim in a dress.

ALWAYS WEAR A NECKLACE OR LAYERED NECKLACES:
Tip No.2 for how to look slimmer in a dress is to always wear a necklace, even better if you feel comfortable with a necklace stack. This again draws the eye down along your torso and does wonders to elongate the top portion of your body, even if your not wearing a scoop neck or v-neck line! I almost ALWAYS wear a necklace stack and one of the staple chains I wear is this one from Nordstrom. It features a mix of silver and gold tones which makes it super easy to find complimentary pieces and the price point is fantastic!
SOLID DARKER COLORS ARE ALWAYS MORE SLIMMING:
It’s a pretty well-known fact that wearing darker colors is more slimming than lighter colors; But I find those kinds of basic tricks can be forgotten very easily, so here’s your reminder ladies! If your going on a date or to an event where you really want to play up your figure, opt for a darker shade such as this gorgeous brown knit dress from Revolve. It’s important to note that this dress is unlined so definitely consider a slip or some kind of shapewear underneath. I’m wearing an XS in this sexy slimming dress.

MAXI HEMLINES ALWAYS MAKE YOU LOOK TALLER AND SLIMMER:
Trick No.4 in my guide for how to look slimmer in a dress is to take advantage of maxi hemlines! Anything floor-skimming will make your legs looks miles long and when you throw in a sexy thigh slit like this dress from Free People, you’ve got the perfect combo! This shade reminds me of a rich red wine and the ruching on the top is incredibly flattering. I’m wearing an XS and find it fits true to size.
SHOP LOOK 4:
ALWAYS WEAR A HEEL OF SOME SORT:
The final tip in my guide for how to look slimmer in a dress is to ALWAYS opt for a heel. I know not everyone can wear crazy high heels, but even a kitten heel will help to make your figure appear slimmer. My first choice would be a fabulous pair of platforms and these ones are only $30!! Seriously, ladies $30! They add so much height without the discomfort of wearing a regular heel of the same height and these are almost identical to my Sam Edelman ones, but for a fraction of the price.
