5 DENIM TRENDS OUT OF STYLE IN 2025 AND WHAT TO WEAR INSTEAD

The first style of denim that is OUT in 2025 is step hem denim. This is basically where the front hem portion is shorter than the back. It was originally introduced as a way to create interest and draw the eye down, but personally, I have always felt it looked a little odd. So, if you’re wanting to stay in the realm of the top denim trends of 2025 I suggest a pair of denim with an even hemline all the way around. These high-waisted wide-leg jeans by Veronica Beard are insanely flattering and the floor skimming hemline will make your legs look miles long. The next denim trend that is out for 2025 is overly ripped denim. I’m talking about the jeans with more holes than fabric in between them! I have always gravitated towards a more tasteful style of minimal distressing, but I have been loving the sleek look of non-distressed denim lately. These high-waisted straight leg jeans by Frame are a great example of non-distressed denim that will make your legs look miles long. I love the vintage inspired wash and since they’re from Frame, the quality is top notch. I wear a size 23 – be sure to size down one size as they fit a little on the bigger side.

The next denim trend on my list to ditch in 2025 is low-rise super skinny jeans. One question I get asked the most is “ARE SKINNY JEANS OUT OF STYLE?” and I am here to tell you that with a little modernization, traditional skinny jeans have turned into the “modern skinny jean”. What does that mean? Well, it means we are now looking for a high-waisted SLIM straight leg as one of the top denim trends of 2025. These Good American jeans are a PERFECT example of a modern skinny jean and I can personally attest to how amazing they fit and make me feel. I’m wearing a size 00 in this killer pair of denim.

No. 4 on my list of denim trends out of style this season is cropped jeans. Not only is this trend on its way out, but they can be unflattering because they cut your legs off, effectively making you look shorter. Instead, opt for a pair of ankle-length jeans that hit within one inch of your ankle. This length is super flattering which is why I took these uber slimming jeans by GRLFRND to my tailor and had them cut off right at my ankle bone. I wear a size 24 and they fit true to size in my opinion.

Last on my list of denim trends out of style in 2025 is colored denim. There was point in the last few years where you could find denim in every color of the rainbow, but it’s never really been my style. I personally prefer more subtle neutral washes that are easier to style like this pair of grey denim. If you want to be on the cutting edge and look fabulous while doing it then I suggest this loose-fit high-rise 90’s silhouette.
