Cut-offs are one of my favorite things to wear in the summer, but the older I get, I feel like it’s harder to look good in them and age appropriate.  Here are a few tips I shared on my blog last month regarding cut-offs:

3 TIPS TO REMEMBER WHEN WEARING CUT-OFFS OVER THE AGE OF 40 (AND REALLY ANY AGE)

1.)  Air on the big side, if your in doubt on whether or not they fit you or are too tight order a size up!  There is nothing worse than seeing someone wearing a tight pair of shorts!

2.) Pair with an over-sized top or jacket/cardigan of some sort.  This way you balance the look out and not everything is form fitting on the top AND on the bottom.  

3.) Pick you shoes wisely – you should never wear cut-offs with super high stilettos or heels, this will create a look that’s too over the top and not age appropriate.  I always pair my cut-offs with some chic wedges, block heels, or a cool sneaker or flat sandal.  

My cut-offs by Agolde are a new favorite of mine!  Shopbop has a really good selection of this denim entire line, click here to view it all.  I’ve been on the hunt for some cut-offs that actually fit really well, that weren’t too short or too tight or too wrippped, well these qualify for all 3!  They’re high-rise, perfectly distressed and are long enough in the back to cover my entire rear and when wearing cut-offs over the age of 40 that’s really important, lol! In fact, wearing cut-offs at any age make sure they’re long enough and big enough so you don’t end up looking cheap!  These shorts run big so I suggest ordering one size down.  I’m normally a 26 in denim cut-offs and these are a 25 and they fit perfectly!

My black loose fitting top is actually a cover-up that I wore in a post a while back, you can view that post by clicking HERE.  I love that it’s long so it peeks through the bottom of my cut-offs.  I put a lace cami under it to add a bit of interest and edge to the look.  This versatile top/cover-up is super comfy and wrinkle free, it comes in 6 colors and it’s under $100 making it a definite must-have!
