5 COMMON FASHION MISTAKES MAKING YOU LOOK OLDER:
NOT TUCKING IN YOUR SHIRT INSTEAD TUCK IN YOUR SHIRT EVEN THE HALF-TUCK WILL DO:
First on my list of common fashion mistakes for women over 40 is not tucking in your shirt! I see a lot of older women wearing long tunics or tees with the hem loose and it just looks sloppy to me. It doesn’t show off your figure and it definitely ages you so always tuck in your shirt! Even a half-tuck is way better than just leaving your shirt loose. The best solution to this problem is to wear a bodysuit because they automatically show off your figure and you don’t have any material bunching at your waist either. It’s for these reasons I basically LIVE in bodysuits. This one from Skims is a fan favorite and also a personal favorite because it’s SO comfortable, this nude color is perfect and goes with literally everything and they’re also very reasonably priced!

WEARING TOO MANY DARK COLORS TOO OFTEN INSTEAD TRY WEARING BRIGHT COLORS:
The second common style mistake for women over 40 is wearing too many dark colors together all the time! Making a conscious choice to wear an edgy all black look is different than wearing predominantly dark colors all the time. It’s important to mix it up because darker colors can be really harsh against our skin and I think wearing light bright colors makes us look far more youthful. This bright pink button-down paired with a matching tube top is the perfect example where I chose to opt for color over neutrals and it definitely makes me feel like the best version of myself.
PS. The tube top is on sale right now for UNDER $20!

WEARING CRAZY LOUD PRINTS INSTEAD OPT FOR EARTH TONED NEUTRALS OR BRIGHT SOLIDS:
Common fashion mistake for women over 40 No. 3 is wearing loud crazy prints, especially MIXED prints. Mixed prints not only age you, but they are also out of style so definitely avoid that combo. They take away from your true beauty and can be so distracting! If you want to look more youthful, modern, and stylish stick to earth-toned neutrals or bright solids. These baggy cargo pants from Karen Millen are a perfect example of a youthful earth-toned piece. They’re sophisticated and elegant looking and cargo pants are having a HUGE moment right now. I really love mixing olive green and white in the summertime because I think it’s a unique color combination that looks very chic and modern.

WEARING FLATS INSTEAD OPT FOR A LOW HEEL OR WEDGE:
Another style mistake that can age you is wearing round-toe flats! Now I have nothing against flats in general, but if you’re going to wear flats, wear a POINTY TOE flat because they’ll make your legs look longer and make you look taller and slimmer. I know not everyone can wear them, but if you’re up for it, I would say opt for a heel if you can. A two-inch heel, a wedge, a platform; all of these are a superior option to a round-toe flat. To sum up, If you want to look more youthful ladies, adding a heel is key! Platforms would be my top choice since they are red hot for spring and summer and the pair I’ve linked is a BEST SELLER for this year already.

WEARING CLOTHES THAT ARE TOO BIG INSTEAD OPT FOR FIGURE FLATTERING SILHOUETTES:
Last on my list of common fashion mistakes for women over 40 is wearing too many oversized pieces at once. Whether you’re trying to hide challenge areas or going overboard with the oversized trend, this will definitely age you, so choose ONE piece that’s oversized and have the rest of your look be form-fitting. This rule will keep your look on trend and will avoid making you look older than you really are and just plain frumpy. This pastel yellow dress is a fabulous fitted option; I wore it with an oversized blazer in the same shade and some trending platforms and the look balanced out perfectly.
