A VIDEO SHARING 9 BEAUTY TIPS TO HELP YOU LOOK YOUNGER

Good morning ladies!  I hope all of you have had an amazing week!  As promised, I’ve published my third video on YouTube.  I’ll be publishing at least one video every other week and soon it will be every week!  I’ve gotten so many requests to do another makeup tutorial so that is exactly what today’s video is, a makeup tutorial but as I’m going through showing you how I do my make up I’m giving you 9 tips along the way to help you look younger so be sure and listen to the video all the way through or just read my post below for all 9 tips!

9 BEAUTY TIPS TO MAKE YOU LOOK YOUNGER:

1.) MOISTURIZE:

As we age our skin seems to just get dryer so moisturizing properly is key in order to have that dewy and glowy skin we all want.  I’ve used Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream for the last few years to moisturize my skin in the mornings and it has worked wonders on my skin!  My skin feels soft, my pores seem smaller and my makeup goes on so smooth after using this magical cream!  In fact, Charlotte created this magic cream after years of doing celebs makeup and using a homemade concoction of what worked best on their skin, she put all of these secret ingredients together to make her infamous Magic Cream.

2.) USE SUNSCREEN:

I’m from the generation that literally layed out on rooftops with Crisco oil, anyone else do this?  Needless to say, I have tons of sunspots and I don’t want anymore!  Wearing sunscreen every single day is a crucial part of my skin care routine and I recommend you do it as well because this will for sure slow down the aging process.  I love this broad spectrum sunscreen by Super Goop, it’s not thick so it works well under my foundation and feels good on my skin.

3.) APPLY EYE MAKEUP FIRST:

The reason I apply my make up first is that my eye shadow always falls and leaves a film underneath my eyes.  If I already have my foundation and concealer on I just end up wiping it off and having to reapply my foundation and concealer.  Applying eye makeup first will eliminate this issue all together making your eyes lighter and brighter underneath which will, of course, help you look younger!  I’m obsessed with this gorgeous eye shadow palette I just got by Charlotte Tilbury, it comes with 12 stunning colors and they all stay on so well and of course look so gorgeous on all skin tones!

4.) USE PRIMER:

There have been days I’ve forgotten to apply primer and I can totally tell the difference.  My foundation doesn’t stay on very well, in fact, by 4 pm most of my make up has rubbed off.  If you use a primer, it will make your pores look smaller, fill in your fine lines and trust me, your makeup will stay on all day!  I love this primer by Smash Box I mentioned in my video, it makes my skin look and feel incredibly smooth and nourished!

5.) PICK YOUR FOUNDATION WISELY:

If there is one thing that makes all of us look older, it’s when our foundation looks too heavy or cakey.  I agree that some of us or probably most of us over the age of 40 need a bit more coverage but that doesn’t mean our foundation has to look heavy.  I found this Chanel foundation I’ve been using for several years and its the best foundation I’ve ever used!  It provides buildable coverage yet it looks very smooth and light on my skin, not too heavy or cakey.

6.) USE POWDER ONLY WHERE YOU NEED IT:

Speaking more to my point above, if you pile on the powder during the day because of shine then your makeup can certainly end up looking too cakey. If you only apply loose powder in the mornings right after you apply your foundation only where you tend to get oily then you will avoid this problem.  If you need to touch up during the day I recommend using blot papers instead, I’ve used these blot papers by NYX for years, they’re amazing and super cheap!

7.) FILL IN YOUR BROWS:

As we age our brows seem to get smaller and smaller.  I can’t tell you the difference I see when I’ve only filled in one brow!  Filling in your brows will not only frame your face and eyes and just balance everything out but it will for sure take years of aging off your face!  I love this Tom Ford eyebrow pencil because it goes on smoothly, it comes with a refill and has a built-in sharpener.  This fabulous eyebrow pencil will last you at least a year which is always a plus!

8.) CONTOUR CORRECTLY:

Contouring makes us look younger because if done correctly it can give the illusion of higher cheekbones, a more defined jaw-line, and even a slimmer nose.  If you’re not sure how to contour to get these effects be sure and watch my video, I demonstrate the most effective way to contour and it doesn’t even take that long and trust me,  it makes the biggest difference!  My favorite product to use to contour is Charlotte Tilbury’s Filmstar Bronze & Glow Contour, I’ve been using this for years and it’s hands-down one of my favorite beauty products!

9.) USE A BERRY COLORED LIPSTICK:

The reason this will make you look younger is that using a berry-colored lipstick will make your teeth look whiter.  As we age our teeth tend to yellow so I suggest whitening your teeth of course, but on top of that using a medium shade berry lipstick will make them look even whiter!  My favorite berry-colored lipstick that I’ve been using for years and I’ve sold a ton of it on my blog is Charlotte Tilbury’s Hot Lips lipstick in Secret Selma.  I’ve tried many other berry colored lipsticks and I always come back to this one because it’s the prettiest color and I love the rich and creamy feeling it has on my lips.

I get asked a ton how my lipstick stays on so well and how it stays on literally all day.  Well, two reasons, first, I start with a lip liner, I love Charlotte Tilbury’s lip cheat in Supersize Me, it’s the prettiest medium pink liner that works perfectly with any berry-colored lipstick!  Second, I put on a lip stain over the Secret Selma lipstick I mentioned above called Matte Chic Lipstick by Chantecaille in the color called Helena.   If would like to see a full demonstration of my lipstick process be sure and watch my video!
