A common complaint I hear from you all is: “I STRUGGLE WITH WHAT TO WEAR SOMETIMES” and I don’t know why because I have a closet full of clothes. Well, here is the most likely reason why: You don’t have enough high-quality basics in your closet and possibly too many trend pieces. I always say to practice the 80/20 rule which essentially means 20% of your closet should be made up of trend pieces and the other 80% should be wardrobe essentials. This way putting looks together will come with ease and no stress because you’ll have the backbone hero pieces that are the foundation of any look.
So, if you struggle with this problem, ( don’t we all from time to time?) then keep scrolling because I’m sharing 5 easy outfit formulas that work every time.

SHOP LOOK 1:
5 OUTFIT FORMULAS THAT WORK EVERY TIME:
BLAZER XS // JEANS 24 // NUDE TEE XS // SIMILAR HEELS // SIMILAR HANDBAG
A BLAZER AND JEANS:
The first combo on my list of 5 easy outfit formulas is a chic blazer and jeans look. A blazer and a flattering pair of jeans are always a classic go-to outfit formula perfect for SO many occasions. This raw-edged blazer from Frame is a great option because it is designed in an oversized style, so as long as your jeans are high-waisted and slightly fitted, you’re good to go! I’m wearing an XS and it fits true to size.
MOTHER JEANS:
These jeans by Mother are a perfect example of high-waisted denim that is slightly fitted. I actually refer to this as a baby flare and they are one of the most flattering pairs of jeans I own! I’m wearing a size 24 in this must-have wardrobe essential.

A CLASSIC WHITE-BUTTON DOWN AND A PAIR OF JEANS:
Example No.2 on my list of 5 easy outfit formulas is a classic cool-girl look that consists of a white button-down with really good denim. This button-down shirt from Express is the ideal classic shirt that you can give a bit of an edge to by rolling the sleeves and leaving a few buttons undone at the top. This shirt is also under $50 so not only is it super stylish, but also pretty affordable! I’m wearing an XS for size reference.
AGOLDE 90'S PINCH WAIST JEANS:
This pair of denim is another pair of what I call “staple denim”. I would definitely include this in the 80% portion of your basics because they can be worn in SO many different looks. I also adore the minimal fraying at the hem which is very on-trend for 2023. I’m wearing a size 24 and they fit true to size.

SHOP LOOK 3:
ALL BLACK TOPPED WITH A JACKET:
This is probably one outfit formula I personally wear the most often of all 5 easy outfit formulas. An all-black ensemble feels so slimming and a white jacket thrown overtop breaks up the look just enough. I’m wearing a size XS in this white leather jacket by LaMarque. I also wanted to give this denim version an honorable mention since it’s literally the exact same jacket, FULLY STOCKED, and more budget-friendly!
SHOP LOOK 4:
ALL WHITE TOPPED WITH A JACKET:
Outfit formula No.4 is all white topped with a jacket and it’s by far my favorite to wear in the spring and summertime. I wear these straight-leg high-waisted ivory jeans from Anine Bing on repeat all year round and it’s easy to see why. I’m wearing a size 24 in this seriously comfy denim.
GREEN CROPPED BLAZER:
The jacket I chose for this look is this fabulous satin cropped blazer from Cinq a Sept. I wear a size 0 in this luxurious and ON TREND blazer. I love the cropped style, the satin material makes it feel very high end and I personally think this green shade is to die for!

MONCHROMATIC:
Last but not least on my list of 5 easy outfit formulas is this GORGEOUS monochromatic look from Express. Wearing an outfit of all the same color is not only chic but it’s a super easy way to put a look together! I’m wearing an XS in this fabulous blazer which looks good with denim too by the way 😉
EXPRESS JUMPSUIT:
Jumpsuits are super easy to wear because they are one-and-done pieces. All you need is some chic jewelry and accessories, and in this case the matching blazer, and you’re done! I’m wearing an XS in this amazing jumpsuit in one of the hottest colors of 2023.
