1. MAKING EXERCISE EASY AND ATTAINABLE:
My first tip to help maintain your health and fitness is to remove as many barriers as possible when it comes to exercising. Sometimes it’s just not feasible to get to the gym in the morning or to carve out enough time in the day to get a whole hour-long class in. I no longer struggle with this since I started using Copilot! It’s like having your own personal trainer on your phone! BIRKRAM HOT YOGA:
My second health and fitness tip that helps me stay fit at 50 is Hot Yoga, specifically Bikram hot yoga. I am honestly addicted to this fitness class! I have been doing this for 18 years and it makes me feel SO good. It keeps me toned and helps me maintain my weight, but it also detoxifies and rejuvenates every single cell of my body. It’s healing and also has been proven to improve mental health and mood. I’ll probably keep doing this class until the day I die, I love it so much!

I bought a very similar one on my trip to bail last year and I had SO many questions about it so I decided to share a very similar option that’s more readily available. MINIMAL ALCOHOL INTAKE:
Tip No. 3 to help maintain my health & fitness is to minimize my alcohol intake. By no means am I saying to stop drinking, but my personal experience has been significant improvements with moderation. I think the main reason is when I do have a drink I don’t sleep well, I wake up groggy and not well rested and I’m less motivated to eat clean and exercise simply because I’m not at my best. I also have noticed that I’m consistently less bloated and have a flatter stomach with minimal alcohol intake.
Since I’ve been doing my strength training with Copilot I’ve noticed my legs are more toned so I feel that much more comfortable wearing shorts! This pair of denim shorts by Pistola is SO fabulous and my favorite aspect is that the legs are a little bit wider, making them super flattering and comfortable. I wear a size 24 and they fit true to size.

INTERMITTENT FASTING:
There are a few reasons why I feel intermittent fasting is a key strategy when it comes to how I stay fit at 50. It helps you sleep better, boosts your immune system, increases your metabolism, and even can help your brain function! This has been a major factor in helping me stay at a healthy weight and it’s so easy to do. I follow a 7/17 schedule which means I try to eat all of my meals between 11am-6pm. If you want to learn more about intermittent fasting I suggest doing some research and talking to your doctor as there are a lot of different methods out there.
I wanted to share this incredibly soft button-down shirt with you all because it makes the perfect third layer in a spring outfit like this one. When it’s too warm for a jacket but not warm enough for a tank, this shirt is the perfect solution. I like to style it tied up at my waist for an easy casual look. I wear an XS and it fits true to size.
EATING CLEAN:
I’ve saved the best tip for last and it’s probably the biggest reason I’m able to stay fit at 50. If you eat clean and exercise 2-3 times a week, you’ll maintain a fit appearance. I basically eat a Paleo diet and I really focus on getting enough protein. I have a major sweet tooth so I still let myself have treats in moderation but for the most part I eat very clean and it makes a HUGE difference. Another tip I think really helps is to drink a whole glass of water as soon as you wake up, BEFORE coffee. SMOOTHIE RECIPE:
1 scoop of SPROUT LIVING plant-based protein powder
1/4 banana
1/4 avocado
1 scoop of Collagen Powder
1/4 cup of mixed frozen organic blueberries
1/2 cup of frozen organic spinach
3 ice cubes
1 teaspoon of chia seeds 1
1 1/2 – 2 cups of coconut water – hands down the best form of hydration
Combine all of these ingredients in a blender or NutriBullet and mix on high for 60 seconds.
