6 Keys to Looking Chic at the Beach

6 Keys to Looking Chic at the Beach:

1.)  Opt for Long – a long cover-up that is.  I think having a floor length cover-up is so ultra chic – stands out more than your typical knee length cover-up.  I picked up the one I am wearing at Target for under $25!!!

2.)  Layer on the Jewels –  I love wearing long necklaces over a swim suit and cover-up – it just adds that little extra something to pull your beach look together.  Even adding a bold gold cuff will bring your look to the next level – this one is from Nordstrom.

3.)  Fresh Mani and Pedi –     One of my worst pet peeves is when someone has chipped polish – so make it a priority to get a fresh mani and pedi with your favorite color of the season – one that will compliment all of your outfits.  My all time favorite color for summer is Blanc by Essie, it is the perfect white that looks so chic on your toes, especially if you have a bit of a tan.  I also love a bright coral or red in the summer as well – a classic for sure that always looks so elegant and chic.

4.)  Wear Black – When in doubt on what color swimsuit to choose, always go with a solid black.  Why?  Several reasons, first, it is super slimming, there isn’t another color out there that will make you look thinner.  Second, it looks good on all skin tones no matter how much or how little color you already have.  Third, black  is an easy color to accessorize.  Your hat, sunnies, and beach bag will all go with a black swimsuit  – this will create a totally chic and polished beach or pool side ensemble.

5.)  Hat and Sunnies are a Must –   These 2 accessories are a must because not only do they do a great job at blocking out the sun and keeping the sun damage to our faces to a minimum, but they  also look super chic.  When you decide to take a dip and your hair is all wet just throw on your hat and sunnies and you have an instant make-over.

6.)  Coral Lips –   I always carry a tube of lipstick with me where ever I go…even the pool or beach.  I think I must get this from my Grandmother and my Mother, they were always applying lipstick…always…and my Mother still is!  I read Rachel Zoe’s latest book on fashion called “Living in Style” – a must read if you love fashion as much as I do!  She shared that her favorite lip stick brand was Tom Ford so of course, I had to go out and try it for myself.  Believe  me when I say – it is THE BEST LIPSTICK  ever!!  The colors are absolutely gorgeous and stay on so well!!  My favorite color for summer is called True Coral which I am wearing in these photos.  Rachel Zoe raves about the color “Bruised Plum” a deep burgundy color that will be perfect for fall.
