A BREAST CANCER STORY WITH SUSAN G. KOMEN

Good morning ladies!  I’m honored to be partnering with Susan G. Komen today!  I’ve been asked to highlight someone I admire who is a breast cancer advocate and that someone is one of my very best friends and fellow influencer, Cathy Williamson, of The Middle Page.

I met sweet Cathy 6 years ago at a blogging event and we became fast friends.  You know those type of people you meet (which doesn’t happen very often by the way) that you immediately click with?  Well, Cathy is one of those rare finds for me and I thank God every day for putting her in my life.

At the time she was wearing a wig, which I wouldn’t have guessed in a million years because it looked so good!  Cathy told me that day that she had been going through chemotherapy and lost all of her hair due to having triple-negative breast cancer.  She was diagnosed with it about 9 months prior to that and was doing everything she could to get rid of it including a double mastectomy. I was terrified for her and felt so bad she had to deal with this horrific tragedy, but it didn’t seem to phase her one bit which I admired so much!  I had never, EVER, met anyone as strong as Cathy and certainly nobody with as much positive energy as her in my life! I have no doubt that it’s because of her great strength, her strong faith, and positive outlook on life that she never for a second thought she may lose her life to cancer.  She knew from the day she got this horrific news that cancer was NOT going to beat her and it didn’t!

Cathy is now 6 years cancer-free and she is so grateful to be alive, happy, and healthy and I can tell that every single time I am with her!  I’m so grateful to have met such a brave and strong woman and I’ll forever be thankful for our very special friendship!

She has made it her main mission in life to be an advocate and help other women who have had cancer or currently have cancer.  If you or someone you know needs a wise and brave woman to talk to you can lean on Cathy! I lost my sweet Aunt Julie to breast cancer and my amazing Dad to lung cancer so helping people with cancer is also very important to me!

Ladies, please get you mammograms every year if you’re over age 40 because early detection and early treatment is key for surviving breast cancer.

This is what my Dad told me just before he died:  “Love is the most important thing in life, relish every moment you have with all of your loved ones because you never know how much longer you or they will have!”  ONE THING I KNOW FOR SURE is that I’m going to live my life that way every single day.
